Kate, Hank, MIB

I woke up cuddled with my littlest girlie.  Honey was at a friends house and Hubby was at work.  Just me and my baby.  She has agreed to stay my baby forever.

We headed over to my sister's to visit Kate and Hank. Caitlin agreed to this trip after I PROMISED that she would not have to hold, touch, talk-to, or take a picture with the baby. It is so funny.  My kids freeze around babies. There is no "oh, so cute!" It's complete deer-in-the-headlights!

I think it is my fault.  When my third girlie, Eleanor, was born and we went to the hospital to meet her I might have... threatened them a little. You know. Don't be loud. No running. No playing. All the things you tell a 6- and 2-year-old before going into a hospital. But I must have over-done it.

Anyway, I hope they get over it. I really want grandgirlies in 15 years.

I won't lie.  It is my goal to become Kate's favorite.  I even let her play with my lipstick.

She. Is. A.dor.a.ble!

That is some fancy lipstick!

My sisters get major kudos for not giving me any crap while I played make-up with Kate. When my girlies were little I was so strict and mean about make-up and nail polish. If they even pretended with my girls I flipped out. I'm older and wiser now.

I did pay a little attention to Henry too.

But honestly, my main man isn't very interesting yet. He chilled the whole time...
he's gonna be a heartbreaker!

I'm trying really hard to get out more. Get over myself already. Get over my issues. So when Hubby proposed dinner and a movie I said yes.

Dinner at Genghis Grill and then Men in Black 3.

Caitlin was too distracted to look at the camera. She has a beautiful profile.

Honey is so beautiful.

Hubby... is a wise guy. Always trying to be funny. We coordinated while he was buying tickets to laugh at everything he said. It was hi-larious! The girlies did a perfect job. This is totally a game we'll play again. Hubby wanted us to admit that sometimes we were laughing for real. (We will never admit that.)

Okay, MIB3 was awesome! My favorite one for sure.  I think if you saw this movie without seeing the first one it wouldn't be as funny... but it would still be fun.

Caitlin just walked in with a home-made MIB costume. She even created a Neuralyzer and she's about to erase my mem...

My baby, 13!

While my sister Siobian is in the hospital with her 24-hour-old son, Henry, I am spending the day with my birthday girl, 13-year-old Siobain. I can't believe my baby is a "teenager"! We went to the early show, 10:00 am, of The Avengers. A completely packed theater, but it was a good movie. When we got out (12:30!) we came home to grill hot dogs, open presents, and eat cake!

I broke down and gave Siobain a bunch of Hetalia gifts... but I also gave her the Animation-ish program.  I can't wait to see the awesome projects she will create! Here is her first test project...

Apparently Derp is something you say when you've done something clumsy or ignorant... I learn something new every day.

Hubby wins the best-daddy-award with this cake! He took in a printout of Honey's favorite character and had a cake made... one-upping me at every turn :)

For dinner we went to Five Guys... Siobain's pick.

The main dinner topic was super-heroes.  Marvel vs. DC comics.  Hubby's top 10...

1. Batman
2. Silver surfer
3. The Flash
4. Superman
5. Spiderman
6. Ironman
7. Wolverine
8. Kato
9. Mighty Mouse
10. Underdog

I think Caitlin enjoys the Hulk...

Wishing my baby a happy new year!

Happy Birth Day!

I had a wonderful evening with my sisters and Gorgeous last night.  I've been lucky to help take care of my littlest girlie in the evenings this past week.  Siobain has gotten too pregnant to pick Kate up, so I became part of their bedtime routine for three wonderful nights.

Last night Gorgeous came over and so did Sarah... the contractions were three minutes apart and then two minutes apart.  Siobain was such a trooper, giving Kate this bedtime routine for the last time while breathing through pain (I can only assume the routine will change when the baby comes home.)

I got my iPhone out and using the stop-watch I wrote down the contraction times and durations.  Such a little thing made me feel part of the action.

Of coarse we had moments of laughter... and I felt closer to these three important women than I had in a long time.

I stayed home with Kate while Mom and Sarah took Siobain to the hospital.  I'm sure there was lots of excitement going on, but I was happy with my job of making sure Kate and Auggie the Doggie were safe and sound.

When hubby Jason arrived at the hospital everyone left and let them experience this miracle together... and Henry arrived...

So exciting! I now have 5 girlies and 1 main man.  I was admittedly disappointed when I found out that Siobain was having a boy but there is nothing but joy now, how can there be anything else once I set my eyes on my  main man.

This photo is a little funny.  My baby girlies (9!) and (13!) are not that "in to" babies.  So we discussed the photo plan before we went into the room.  No one wanted to hold Henry... so I decided Caitlin would hold Henry and Siobain would hug them both.

Once we were in the room it was clear that I had prepped this photo... and my girlies followed directions... and then handed Henry off as soon as possible. Hubby on the other hand... I had to tell him "NO, we are done having babies." I don't think he would have given Henry back if I hadn't taken him right out of his arms.

Such a joyous day and thanks be to God for a healthy mother and baby.

Saturday (A to Z)

Hubby and the girlies let me sleep late today, but not too late, we had to celebrate!

My super smart students made straight A's!

Straight A's mean a lunch out and a trip to the bookstore!

The girlies chose Chili's... mainly because of the desert.

Due to the extreme lack of lady-like-eating the last time we ordered this desert I implemented a new rule.  You can't reach for another bite until you have counted to ten... it worked!

This super cool spaceship car was parked at the first bookstore.

We were able to listen to the new Muppets Soundtrack twice while we drove around.

There is a Camilla and the Chicken's version of "Forget You"... Since it is all clucked I think it is probably the F*ck You version... Get it? Cluck and F*ck?  Anyway, made me giggle.

Rough Ruff (A to Z)

I'm a survivor... I'm goin' to make it... Destiny's Child's lyrics running through my head started at 3:30 today. Followed by the longest drive home ever, not according to the clock.

Insecurity reared it's ugly head this morning. I was able to push it down most of the day, but as my workload wound down insecurity and doubt came by for a cup of tea. Those devils that try to take hold of me.

What a blue, watered-down world I'm sharing during the A to Z challenge... But I really wanted to stay true to my "this is my life" blog, I usually have a way more entertaining life.

Anywho, after a rough day I came home to where my heart is. I loved to see that there is a wild game of Star Wars Monopoly going on...

And later Caitlin made me an origami dog, turning my rough day into a ruff day! (That's a happy "ruff" with a tail wag.)

Jewelry (A to Z)

Nope, didn't get any jewelry and didn't make any jello as proposed in my A to Z promo video... we're doing the hand JIVE instead!

Over Easter the girlies where playing hand-clapping routines.  My sister Sarah and I were laughing out-of-control as we tried to remember the ones from our childhood.  The kind of laughter that sets your soul free and makes everything better. (But our laughter is kinda loud... so we were stopped before we could completely remember the moves.)

The next day Caitlin taught me "double, double, this, that" and I have been bugging her ever since to see how many rounds we can do without stopping.

Tonight Honey and Caitlin hand jived in the back yard.

Yes, I know hand jive is a specific routine... but we're going to give me a break :)

Drum roll....

You've probably seen this, it's one of those viral videos, but I love it! My favorite hand jive ever... Cleary & Harding!

Totally N.I.A.

Hubby made breakfast in bed for me.  Wait... He didn't make it in bed. He made it in the kitchen and then brought it to me. I was in bed. So I ate breakfast in bed.

Whatever, it was a nice treat after a rough Friday. Lovely way to start our Saturday.

Next was guitar lessons.  This was a major review morning because we have missed too many lessons.  Cracking the whip!... A little bit at a time.  Caitlin was a little teary because her fingers are sensitive again.   My fault for not keeping everyone in practice mode. But I'm back.

Hubby tried to make Caitlin feel better by playing her mini guitar... it drove everyone away but me, and I wish I had turned on some lights!

Guitar Hero Dork!

Next up on the Saturday agenda was a meeting of the N.I.A!  Siobain and I were invited to join this week.  So exciting. Meetings are held in Caitlin's room on Saturdays.  The door opens magically (with the help of hubby) when Caitlin performs the secret knock with her pink umbrella. (Which looks very much like the Diagon Alley knock that Hagrid performs in the first HP movie.)

Once inside the clubhouse we learned what N.I.A. stands for, it's a secret. Caitlin called the meeting to order, she's the president.

I was in stealth camera mode, so this is the best one of the president that I could get.

There was some club business to take care of next, like the election of the VP.

I guess hubby is the parliamentarian because he advised Caitlin on motions and voting.

Spartacus was voted in as V.P.

We all have secret nicknames.
(Mine is the nickname that I've been trying to get people to call me for-e-ver!)

***

Hubby took the girlies out for the afternoon. I couldn't leave the house. I guess if it were on-fire I would have managed... two steps forward, one step back.  Otherwise I am really proud of myself.  I didn't get out of the house but I did get some stuff accomplished IN the house.  So that's something.  And I didn't wallow or sleep at all.

Well, I might have wallowed a little while I was watching the Hollywood version of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo... I preferred the 2009 Denmark version. But that's just me.

Spartacus waited for his girlies to come home... and waited... and waited.  Poor guy.  Finally they were home... and pooped.  Caitlin drew a picture of hubby, I took a picture... and played.  Spittin' image!

That's Pimp

Siobain woke me up this morning... "do they cancel school when it rains this hard?"

Sigh, no.

Even having to give Spartacus his anti-rainstorm-and-thunder-medicine I was still able to drop the girlies off on-time to school. Impressive!

But I didn't make it to work on time...

The traffic was at such a standstill that I was actually able to check my email with no safety guilt. (Usually I only answer and place calls.)

My morning started off pretty rough.  A man was in my office humming with rage.  I mean, I think he was actually emitting a hum from the vibrations of his muscles as he tried to stay under control.  To his credit, he never once raised his voice... I was a little worried about his face though.  He's a handsome man and rubbing on it like that can cause wrinkles.  Anyway, I was up to the task of fixing the situation (the deets don't matter, well, except that it wasn't about me or my fault... for some reason those deets always matter to me.)

But by 11:15 I had not been able to fix things.  So I needed to eat some texmex STAT (thank you girls!)  As we were leaving the texmex restaurant three things happened.

First, there were three women walking out behind us who heard me ask my friend frantically "Did you see naked women? I need to know if you saw naked women! WERE THERE NAKED WOMEN?"

Okay, I didn't know they were behind us and these questions were heard completely out of context.  Alright, they probably weren't out of context but I did NOT know anyone could hear us.  I made their day.

Second, this car...

... is sitting on the ground. At first I thought there were four flat tires... but no, it's a hydraulic-y car.  Pimp! We were NOT going to leave until I had a picture of this car. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good angle so we had to leave the texmex parking lot and go into the "gentleman's club" parking lot... which was a fun field trip. As we are driving back into the texmex parking lot, hanging out the window with my camera, we pass the same three women... who roll down their window, laugh, and say "Are you back to take a picture of that car?" Ha-shizzle YES! (You know I made their day!)

Third, I made the girls wait until I got the right shot.  I didn't care that we were blocking a car.  I have priorities... and Pimp is one of them.  Fortunately the other car ALSO found our shenanigans amusing.

BONUS, I received an email on the way back to work that the "situation" was about to be fixed!

***

Because I think this is funny... I'm going to share it.  I have a half-wall on one side of my cubicle.  It's convenient and helps control my claustrophobia.  There were three men talking to me over the half wall about projects for a bit. When they left I looked down at my keyboard... only to see...

... my shirt rolled up and one of my belly rolls chillaxing for the whole world to see.  I've taken this photo from their point-of-view so that you can really, really appreciate this post-awkward moment.

A few rules to live by.... Always tell people when:
- they are wearing a price tag
- they have toilet paper stuck to any part of their body
- their clothing tag is sticking out
- they have a booger
- food is on their face, chest, or lap
- hair is sticking up (unless it's clearly on purpose)
- any smudge, dirt, or marker on their face
- food or any object stuck in or on their teeth
- their zipper is unzipped, wherever that zipper my be
- if they have anything alien on their behind, not matter what it is
- and IF THEIR FAT ROLLS ARE EXPOSED.

So, I emailed some girl friends this photo with the note that ONE of these three guys could have said something along the line of "pull your shirt down."

Later that day... Little Miss Stacy was with me and in the short amount of time we were together she kindly told me THREE times that my shirt rolled up.

Burning the shirt! Keeping Stacy!

Caitlin has to read everyday for homework... sometimes we are distracting :)

Sorry!

Today... I had fun!  First time in a long time that I was able to NOT think about breathing and/or sleeping.   After getting a triple haircut (me and my girlies) we drove over to visit with Gorgeous.

Gorgeous is recovering from major foot surgery... it's an awesome frankenfoot now.  Anyway, because I've been so ill'n we haven't been able to stop by for some chill'n. Yup, I wrote "ill'n" and "chill'n," I am definitely on the road to recovery.

Caitlin suggested a game of Sorry after we ate dinner.  I think we were all "meh" but she really wanted to play.

So. Much. Fun!

Siobin... is evil when it comes to Sorry!... and she is not "sorry" at all!

Gorgeous broke out some M&M treats for game time.  M&M candies will always remind me of my grandmother, Gorgeous' mom, and I think the tradition will continue. I hope they still have M&M candies when I'm a grandma.

Honestly, Gorgeous doesn't seem old enough to be a grandma.  My grandma was old for-ev-er! Totally fun and awesome, but old!  Gorgeous was right when she said she wasn't old enough to be a grandparent... of coarse that was 13 years and six grandchildren ago :) I think she's adjusted.

I love this photo for two reasons.  First, because right after I gave the camera to Caitlin to snap some photos of the other side of the board (us) Honey and I started wrestling over a game piece. I let my inner child come out when we play board games. So this is the best picture there was of the two of us. Second, do you see the open mouth and straining neck on Honey?  That's a Spearing girl laugh. It's obnoxious and loud and totally un-lady-like.  This is the way I laugh. And this is how both my sisters laugh when they think something is really funny.  I love it and it brings me joy.

After Siobain "sorry-ed" all of Caitlin's pieces... Caitlin ended up winning.
I thought I had it in the bag!

We weren't ready for the fun to be over and Caitlin suggested Monopoly.  I wasn't ready for the fun to last three days so I counter offered Yahtzee. (The game with bonus math skills practice.)

Super Siobain did not win.

Gorgeous did not win.*

That's right, I won after scoring two Yahtzees!
Gorgeous suggested I buy a lotto ticket on the way home.

See, all I needed was some time with my mom to start feeling better.

*Okay, Gorgeous is gorgeous and so I have to remind everyone that she has a frankenfoot and would otherwise not be in a recliner with a walker in the background.

While I was Sleeping...

"You must be dying because you haven't posted since Monday." I've been tired. I made it through Monday and Tuesday but worked half day on Wednesday... Sleeeeeeep.

Then, I (TMI) had a nice vomit incident on Thursday afternoon.  Aside from the drama of (1) vomiting; (2) vomiting at work; (3) standing 'nekked' in the third floor ladies room wandering if I could just lay down on the cold tile... there was also the frustration of ALMOST working a full day.  Arg.  So close.

I'm so glad I took a vacation day today. Rest, relax... no embarrassing vomit situations. (Although Caitlin did give me that "you are so gross" look this morning... but that's just bonus baby!)

Time is ticking while Kathleen is sleeping. (I really wish I could have rhymed something with "ticking.") Anyway, it's spring break and the girlies and hubby have not been wasting a moment! Well, hubby has taken some moments to cuddle me and make me feel better... but that's in between the fun stuff!

Tuesday

Mostly fun stuff... I was a crabby pants when I got home on Tuesday.  I threw a hissy fit because Honey had a graphic of a gun on her shirt.  "Pick your battles," I know, but in my weakened condition and having a gun "pointed" at me really... set me off.  Electronic freebie night to make up for that...

Caitlin's masterpieces using Hubba Hubba:

Caitlin, Hubby, Kitty, Hubba Hubba

Siobain, Spartacus, Me

Siobain worked on this animation on her NintendoDS.  It's not done yet, but it's awesome... even though I don't like the music...

Wednesday

Goin' to the Drive In!  Hubby and the girlies checked out a new (to us) drive in on the other side of town.  They reported back that it is better than the one we usually go to.  Siobain was awesome and made sure there were photos taken.  I think she did a really great job.

Apparently there is a mini golf course there too... with a Sponge Bob... I do love photos with statues. No really, I do.  Hubby makes fun of me.

My favorite photo is of the girlies playing with the speakers.

Thursday

Grrr... Hubby played at open mic. No one took pictures.  There will be punishment especially since everyone was laughing about what a great time they had.  Cruel.

Friday

And that brings us up to today.  Caitlin made this wheel, it says "horn" in the center, and made Hubby be the car.  No major crashes but I think the blue book value for the hubbymobile suffered today.

Honk if you're adorable!

They just got back from the museum...

They only took a couple of photos... but they brought me ice cream, so we're good.

Ice Cream - Post 52: ABCs

Want to go for ice cream? (cause Mommy is late doing her "I" post...)

Everyone is always up for frozen cream in a cone! Road trip to Marble Slab!  We all pile into the car, even jr. vader, for some cold treats on this beautiful afternoon.

My girls are totally scoring because I need a photo op!

So many options to choose from...

Hubby - chocolate with m&m mix in a plain waffle cone.
Me - coconut cream with cherries in a dark chocolate dipped waffle cone.
Siobain - vanilla with oreos in a oreo dipped waffle cone.
Caitlin - chocolate with gummy bears in a dark chocolate dipped waffle cone.

1. Hubby was right and this cone was WAY to big for Caitlin to finish.
2. Mommy was right and frozen gummy bears aren't yummy bears.

Siobain is so pretty... even when she has ice cream all over her face.
She totally reminds me of my Dad, it's sweet... in a gross way.

***

We had to head back home immediately because a big dairy treat was not mixing well with my -itis' or my meds or something...

After my nap I watched an episode of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix.  Which led to hubby to say "any show with a laugh track is not funny." And then he sent Siobain into the room to say "mom, dad says any show with a laugh track is not funny." And then he sent Caitlin into the room to say "mom, did you know that if a show has a laugh track it's not funny?"

He's a funny guy.  And I caught his rant on video...

Family Circus

This morning was more 3-ringed than usual. I'll just go ahead and admit that Caitlin did not get to school on time... and then there was an email from her teacher, to all the parents (but we know it was meant for me), about "tardies"... awkward!

1st Act: The Girl in the Locked Box

In the center ring this morning was Caitlin (surprise, surprise.) I was putting my dress in the dryer, because that's how I iron, when I heard screaming and banging coming from the general direction of the bathroom. Then the sound of the dryer muffled the screams and it was easy to ignore.

But when I needed to get into the bathroom myself the screaming needed to be addressed. The girls aren't allowed to lock the bathroom door because the last time they did they accidentally shut the door behind them with no one on the inside to UNlock the door... and I had to remove the door knob... during a slumber party.

Anyway, they are not allowed to lock the door... but Caitlin has figured out how to block the door from opening with the drawer:

Very effective!

Fortunately "open the damn door" is a magic phrase.

2nd Act: Amazing Toothpaste

Caitlin hates brushing her teeth. I suspect her "locked" door maneuver is a ruse to give the impression that she has brushed her teeth while alone.  Her back-up ruse is to rinse all the toothpaste off the brush before putting it into her mouth... this doesn't work so well when I'm standing there brushing my teeth too.

We had a stare-off in the mirror. She knew she couldn't stop brushing before I did... so I brushed for an extra long time :) I'm evil that way.

Somehow we (the unidentifiable we) manage to get toothpaste everywhere... everyday.  How did we get it on the toilet? Or on the upper right hand side of the mirror? Seems to be everywhere except in the tube and on the brush.

This morning there was a huge smear of toothpaste on the back of the hairbrush. Yuck, with some of Siobain's hair already stuck to it.  Have I mentioned that I have hair issues? I rinsed the brush off... and then decided to clean the hair out of the bristles.

Bad move. I didn't dry my hands first so the ball of human hair kept clinging to my hands. This would usually make me barf, but I didn't.

Instead I decided we better leave the house before anything else happens...

3rd Act: The Strongest Girl in the World

"Where's my lunch?" Caitlin asks from the middle of the living room. She loves to park herself in the middle of the living room.

After determining that Daddy didn't make lunch for Caitlin I told her she could just buy lunch today.

"I only like to buy on Tuesdays and Friday" Caitlin states from the middle of the room.

"What are they having today?" I ask, standing in the open front door.

"I don't know" Caitlin states, firmly rooted to the center of the living room floor.

"Maybe you'll like it. We GOTS TO GO!" I said sternly, gesturing out the door.

Blank stare from Caitlin... and this is why the middle of the room is Caitlin's favorite spot... she knows I"m not going to pick her up or drag her by her hair or yank her by the feet, no matter how much I REALLY REALLY WANT TO. All she has to do is root herself and not budge.

I gave up. She's gonna be late. We fixed her lunch and finally headed for the car.

4th Act: Clown Car

"Since you are already late, I'm going to drop Siobain off first because her school is on the way" I say, standing at the front door (again.)

"Daddy said we aren't allowed to let you do that anymore." Siobain says breezily as she walks past me.

"I AM THE MOMMY AND I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!" I screamed so all the neighbors are sure to hear this declaration... Unfortunately I was a bit worried that Siobain would refuse to get out of the car if I tried to drop her off first... so to Caitlin's school I drove.

(Back story)
Okay, yesterday I freaked out a little during drop-off and called the school to ask them what the ha-shizzle the new drop off routine is.  Here's a sketch:

Lane 1 is the drop off lane.  Lane 4 is the "park, pick-your-nose, apply make-up, do whatever" lane.  Lane 2 and 3 are confusing.

People have been using lane 3 as a drop-off lane lately... because it kinda looks like one now that the school added all those safety cones in lane 2. So I started using it but got SERIOUS ATTITUDE from the crazy lady with the "stop" sign. When I spoke to the office yesterday they said "those people (which would include me) are WRONG and we have been sending notes home trying to get them to stop." A-w-k-w-a-r-d.. basically, if I'd paid attention to some of that paperwork sent home in the folders then I would know what the ha-shizzle is going on.

(Back from the back story)
Are you still with me? As we are approaching Caitlin's school the voice* in my head starts talking to me...

"You're a bad Mom who doesn't read the paperwork sent home!"
"You've been doing drop-off all wrong!"
"ALL the other moms have seen your car in the wrong lane!"
"They think you think you are better than them!"

I had to silence the voice, ASAP. I started making a very loud humming noise... my version of "lalalalalala I can't hear you!"

This worked! I calmed down... but then the girlies started humming with me.

We were a car of crazies!

And THAT happened before 8:15 am.

*We all have that voice in our head. This was not a "crazy" voice... although my response may have been questionable. :)

The A to Z Challenge!

Alright! I have signed up for the blogging A to Z Challenge!  I'm really excited to be doing this... so excited that I created a video (even though I still have a zit!)

Bwahahaha! The girlies and I had so much fun making this video tonight. Caitlin did some directing and Siobain stayed in the room... pre-teens(!)

So, here's the dealio... This doesn't start 'til April but please leave any topics/ideas for my posts during the challenge in the comments below.  I'll actually have to do a little preplanning instead of just... well, living the crazy life.

There are already 385 bloggers signed up for the challenge and it's my goal to check out all their blogs in the next couple of months.  I'll share the ones I really love OR you could check out the list yourself... some of my peeps should totally do this challenge too.

Okay, on a side note, do I talk like this all the time? With the weird winking and all that crazy face bobbing going on?  Someone needs to let me know.  For now, I'm going to pretend that this video is an isolated incident.... except...

... here are some photos taken during some camera checks at work this morning:

What the ha-shizzle?  Roger was running the camera and he's really good... of coarse, he also made these selects... and he's a little evil.

Maybe today was just NOT my day to be in front of the camera.

Curly Girlie

Quick results post this morning...

Before we had even taken the pillow rollers out Caitlin said "I don't like the curls."... "Can you wait and see what they look like before deciding you don't like them?"

Some pillow roller notes: the girlies slept fine with the rollers in their hair and weren't bothered at all; the rollers stayed put through the night, and my girlies are sleep wigglers; there were no knots created by the rollers.  In conclusion... these are a really good roller option.

And my girlies hated the results.

This is the "let me at least take a picture" picture.
It was too much to force a smile out of Caitlin.

A view from the back.
Okay, this is after I tried to take out some of the curl for Caitlin so the curls were much more natural and not all scrunch at the bottom.

... and here is the braid that we did because Caitlin REALLY doesn't want curls.

I told them it was raining and the curls would come out anyway... but the vote is still a big fat NOT.  It is good to know how to get curlies in the girlies for special occasions though.

I think Siobain is going to be won over when she gets compliments all day long.

Off to work and school.  Have a great day!

Little Hair on the Prairie

Okay. I am giving the power to my girlies.  It is in their hands whether or not they get to keep their long locks.  Because these locks ain't getting any love from me.

This morning I didn't even bothering to ask Caitlin to brush her hair, I just braided it and said "let's go. " Then I handed Medusa a hair band and said "pull it back."

If the girlies aren't going to groom their hair then we'll make life easier for all of us... and cut it off.  BUT it is in their hands. (This brills approach came from Vera... queen of all therapists everywhere!)

Tonight I stopped and bought new shampoo, new hair bands, bobby pins, barrettes and... rollers. I brought gifts and laid down the law.

We brushed and dried and rolled...

I had to take a photo! The girlies have pillow rollers in their hair, soft so that you can sleep in them... they really reminded me of Laura and Mary ready for bed in the loft with their hair tied up.

Siobain is still doing homework... I'm not lovin' 7th grade homework...

The Guitar Girlies

Hubby got us all guitars today!  The girlies picked out their own and hubby brought one home for me (big sale)...

So we are going to learn to rock and roll! Watch out world, here we come!

I love mine.  So beautiful! I was surprised Caitlin came home with a classic look... I thought for sure she would go for bright green :) Her's is the only one that is smaller in size.

We know the C chord  already :) Hubby will give us lessons on Saturday mornings and then we all have to practice every day.

Caitlin has learned the beginning of These Boots Are Walking... I'll get it on video to share as soon as possible.  Hmmm... I'll have to arrange for a blog concert video after a few months practice.

So.... truth time... Karen started me on the show Sons of Anarchy... I might be addicted.  I'm just saying. I'm about to be a bad-ass-guitar-chick who watches shows like Sons of Anarchy.

Sigh, who am I kidding.  The most bad-ass I'll get is a lick-on temporary tattoo...

Sisters

Cuddles and giggles and secrets all day.
What did I do so RIGHT to deserve these angels*?

*2 hr update... Sigh. I just popped onto the blog... and realized that I was previously wondering what I had done so right to deserve these ANGLES... just so everyone knows, it's my angels ANGELS! Sigh. This has now become an awkward post.
