The Look

Unfortunately, I get this look a lot...

(Karen and Stacy)

This look says "you have been talking way too long, about something I'm not interested in, but I am a polite person and will just pray silently for it to end."

Abort immediately when you get this look.  Plowing through only makes matters worse. It is especially awkward when you receive this look from a boss or a client.

This is a reoccurring issue for me, as is evident by this blog.  I think to myself before going into a meeting "just listen, don't talk," or "ask about them first," or "you don't need to fill the silence." I never heed my own advise.

So even people who like me, as I assume Karen and Stacy do because they continue to ask me to lunch, eventually give me this look.

But the real issue is I find myself interesting... to a point of redundancy.

My littlest girlie doesn't give me this look often, she finds me interesting. I'm getting this look more often from my oldest girlie... and until today have attributed it to her "teen" status, but now I think she's just over me. Hubby gives this look to me too... but I can smack him out of it, literally.

I don't feel comfortable smacking other people. And really, that wouldn't be fair since I am already torturing them.

As a side note... does anyone else notice that Karen and Stacy wore the same outfit today?

Big Brother

Has anyone seen the awful but addictive show Big Brother?

The themes of the show are paranoia, challenges, and survival... Oh, and lots of personality drama.

Well, that's been my life these last seven days... The threat of being voted out of my own life hanging over my head.

My paranoia is real and justified. The challenges real, scary, and success not guaranteed. The drama...

The drama even too much for me, a drama queen. Not fun, laughable drama but scary malicious drama.

Who are my allies? Who can I trust? God, my girlies, hubby when he is not tired of this invisible game I'm struggling with.

I did not sign up for Big Brother... So this is notice to the participating "contestants," I'm done. Play the game without me. I can't stop you, but I sure as hell can ignore you.

Tomorrow is a new day. And I am out of the house.

(They turn the photo black/white when someone leaves the game.)

Vacation Anxiety

It is 4:00 in the morning and I'm wide awake... Full of angst about our upcoming vacation to "the happiest place on earth."

Hubby and the girlies are excited. As they should be! We are lucky to have such a privileged vacation.

I've been in denial that this is actually happening. Now we are a week away and the phobias are sneaking out. And I've been so good lately! Hubby has handled everything, I don't even know where we are staying.

Caitlin has started her countdown... Which is probably when reality set in.

Hubby said he picked a nice place on the Disney property so I can take the bus out of the park any time. It's alright if I stay in the hotel room whenever I feel overwhelmed. He's going to the library this week to pick up whatever books I am interested in. He is really trying to make this work.

I just need to hold it together.

Monster under the bed...

What do you get when you mix a cat, a dog, and a wood floor?

A dust bunny!

Honestly it is more hair ball than dust, this summer heat is creating more shedding than usual... Okay, AND I'm a sucky house- keeper. I wish I had a passion for it... Should I do hypnosuggestion? But if I did try that isn't the list of more important changes too long to count?

I wonder what Vera thinks about hypnosis... I think she would shudder at my dust bunny.

Paper or Plastic?

Long day. Long week. Got so much work done and yet it's not even a dent!

I stopped at Kroger on the way home. Just two essentials on my list... Bread and wine (of the sparkling variety.)

The teenager at the register, who did NOT ask for ID, asked if I wanted my items in seperate bags.

"No thank you. Wait, actually I don't need a bag at all. Is it legal for me to walk out of the store without the alcohol in the bag?"

Teenager shrugs. He hands the receipt to me.

"Can you just throw that away for me? I don't need that either."

Another shrug and a glance at the customer behind me.

Ha-shizzle teenage-register-check-out-guy, you just got Kathleen'd.

If you were thinking "I bet if it was legal this crazy biatch would have red-solo-cupped her $6.00 champaign right here in the store!"... THEN YOU WOULD BE RIGHT!!!

I reenacted my walk of unabashed me-ness so that you could see me in all my wino glory...

Funky

There are women who can throw on clothes that do NOT go together and totally pull off a a cool, funky look.

And then there are women who do the same thing and just look like they dressed in the dark.

It's a vibe. You either have it or you don't. Size, beauty, and ethnicity don't affect the vibe... It's something intangible.

My youngest girlie Caitlin has the vibe, my oldest girlie does not. Both my sisters have it...

I definitely do Not have the cool-funky-vibe. I just can't pull it off.

Clearly...

The Bird

Tehehehe! I totally just got a solid 10 second middle finger from another driver.

I don't know why this has given me the giggles. I wish her windows weren't tinted so I could see if it was someone I knew... Or even work with!

Don't get me wrong, the gesture may have been completely earned by me... Cause I am not a very good driver.

But doesn't giving someone the bird make you an ass?
