A lot of friends on Facebook have been posting the image if Wicked and how excited they are that it's coming to town.
I've read the book and my friend Michael gave the me sound track several years ago so I'd really like to see the musical too, but it's not in the budget this year.
I'm not sad though. How many people get to listen to new adventures of Elphaba and Glenda all the time?
And Caitlin has a great imagination!
I'll have to tell her about the middle-of-the-night adventure they barely survived when the giant known as Mommy almost stepped on them...

Characters
Caitlin and I are cuddled up. She's watching Harry Potter on my iTouch and I'm watching the Fugitive on the tele.
"Why did Indiana Jones jump off that bridge?"
"Is 'K' a bad guy?"
"Why is 'K' chasing Indiana Jones?"
"But Indiana Jones didn't kill his wife?"
And so it goes with every movie. My littlest girlie will always know some actors only by their most "important" role.

Hairdon't
Last night I went to the effort of sleeping with curlers in my hair. Can't help laugh at my Annie hairdo... And ending up in a ponytail...

Cindy Inspired
Cindy's hair looked great today. Her straight iron broke, if I recall the tale correctly, and so she dug out her hot curler set. Loved it! Hope she does it more often. Cindy, btw, always looks über professional. I, btw, don't.
So it's a good sign that she has inspired me to roll my hair. I can't find my hot rollers, so tonight I borrowed the girlies sleep-in rollers. They are meant to twist and stay in place on their own but since I sleep as if possessed I add the extra security of bobby-pins.
We'll see how they turn out in the morning :D

Oooopsy
I received a text from Hubby's phone... Clearly sent by one of the children, "daddy broke his phone already."
Ummm... "His phone" is an iPhone5 purchased 14 days ago.
I'll be honest, I was not looking forward to spending the evening with him... 100% chance of grumpy.
When I got home he wasn't there. The girlies didn't know where he had gone. I assumed the Sprint store but couldn't reach him on his cell.
Finally received a text with unexpected and MAGICAL words "I have insurance."
All us girlies are relieved it was daddy that broke it, and not one of us. I suggest bubble wrap until his otter box comes in.
There was lots of happy daddy playtime when he got home. A happy end to the story.

BFF
I have a wish for my girlies, I wish for them to have a BFF. A girlfriend they can call anytime, for any reason.
I don't have one of those and sometimes I'm at a loss. I have hubby and my sisters so I'm lucky that way... But I don't have THAT person.
My sister has a BFF, I admit I was really jealous of their relationship when i was younger. And then I accidentally ruined it. I'm at peace with myself now, and I hope they get back to their former closeness because I now know that what they have is so special.
How do I put my daughters in an environment that will develop and foster a lifelong friendship?

Burn 'em
My new glasses have been getting mixed reviews. There is no mixed message from my sister :)
I sent my mom and sisters a picture of my makeup, because I don't wear it very often and was worried I'd put too much on...

Medina Meltdowns
Each of the Medina girlies, including me, have had a spectacular meltdown in the last 24 hours.
At least we spread them out a little... Poor hubby.
And we aren't even into the real teen years yet. Might be a bumpy ride.

Zenni Photo Bomb
My Zenni glasses came in! Always an exciting event in my house :)
I put together a little photo montage of four of my six glasses... All the photos were bombed by my little Caitlin.
I l-o-v-e my glasses. The ones I wore today are HUGE black rimmed square. Reactions have ranged from stunned silence to awkward acknowledgement of new glasses to "love them."
Hubby was in the stunned silence category. My sister Sarah didn't hate them but said they totally ages me.
I l-o-v-e them :)

Amy's Baby
My lunch buddies are Karen, Stacy, and Amy.
Amy also happens to be my sister's best friend.
Amy is prego. Expecting. With child. In the family way. Eating for two. Knocked up.
I've known for a week... since my sister knew, I got to know. I've kept this secret, since it wasn't my exciting news to share.
Amy was going to send us a photo of her daughter wearing a "Big Sister" shirt from their disney vacation... the email never came. So today I was pressuring Amy to spill the beans to Stacy and Karen 'cause I was really excited and well, I wanted them to get to be excited too.
Meanwhile... in my awkward world... I had sent an email to same said lunch buddies "subject: who missed me?" because it was my first day back as a living member of society. I have been sick since March 4th!! And I wanted... well, attention and love. There, I admit it. I was begging for attention.
Back to Amy's baby... I suggested that it would be funny if Amy replied back to my "who missed me?" email with the sonogram and a thought bubble "I miss Kathleen..."
Before Amy could reply "yes, that would be hilarious" I decided I could just make it for her...
Which is WHY Amy's sonogram was up on my computer screen.
Which is WHY Amy's sonogram was up on my computer screen WHEN Kelly walked into my office.
Kelly must have some crazy-sonogram-reading-radar because within 2 seconds she asked "Is Amy pregnant?"
Ummmm.... "I. am. in. so. much. trouble." is all I could think as I LIED and said "uh, no... I'm um, just playing a joke." (worst lier ever)
Kelly was really nice and went along with my lie...
So busted. Busted in the worst way. Fortunately Amy finds my awkward life amusing, even when it leaks into her life.
Note to all my friends... make sure I'm the last one to know, it's safer that way.

We painted flowers today. Beautiful girlies and beautiful paintings. Wish I'd been able to keep them all.

Late Lunch
We met Maria and Courtney for a late lunch. I wasn't going to go because my bones are currently in a liquid state of tired, might be a side effect of the meds, but since all I would have to do is sit in the car and then sit in a restaurant... It didnt seem like much effort.
We had a great time visiting and I'm really glad I gathered the energy to go (I fell asleep on the ride home.)
Here is hubby, reining over his beautiful family (my eyes were rolling while I took this photo.)

Vitamin D
We had a spring break plan! I was going to work in the mornings and play in the afternoon. We'd have lots of family time together... And then the virus arrived. No working and no playing, just... coughing and sleeping.
I missed the museum and the movie... but today I didn't miss the park. Joanne had suggested I go outside and get some vitamin D and I realized I can be with my family AND lay down.
We packed up a blanket and headed to the park. BTW, a nerf football makes a great pillow. I was so relaxed and happy. Yes, I was still coughing and my eyes were closed and I was a crazy lady slumbering in the park, but I could hear my kiddos laughing. I could hear all the birds, and the dogs, and feel the breeze.
I could feel the sun on my face and arms. The fresh air... and my kiddos laughing.

Silence
The only way I was going to make it through the day was avoiding talking.
Tacky sign, but it worked and I was able to stay for 8 hours!
Bonus, my teenager cuddled and texted with me for an hour when I got home.
Bonus 2, new improved cough meds gave me 11 hours of sleep.

Hubby's New Toy
I slept alllll day! Very few coughs, until I called hubby at 5:3o to see where they'd wondered. Then I started coughing. So my goal is to say as little as possible at work tomorrow, might even put up a sign :)
Hubby bought his first iPhone today. It's actually his first i-anything other than the computer. He's used a hand-me-down shuffle to listen to his music...
So to say he's adorable with his new toy is an understatement. I'm so excited for him. My first priority was to set him up with Find Friends... For two reasons, I can completely stalk him and I can always be found (which give me a sense of security.)
And then of coarse I FaceTimed him... bedroom to kitchen, the two corners of our house... We where in stereo since we could hear each other on the phone and down the hall.
The girlies have been helping him figure the phone out and he randomly ushers a "cooool." We've tried not to make fun of him too much, but it's kinda funny.

Dexter
With all the coughing and meds I'm on I got really scared really fast when I coughed and blood splattered onto my phone.
I was scared and confused at the same time, I'd covered my mouth and there was no blood on my hands... But there is splatters on my shirt? Dexter could solve this...
I felt something on my nose. First time I was ever relieved to have a good, old fashioned nose bleed.

Mario Bro
Caitlin's been playing the Mario Bro theme all week. When I finally admitted that I didn't know what she was playing I lost some "cool" points.
She is adorable!

"Compare to Poise"
It's my birthday!!!
I l-o-v-e my birthday. I love adding another year to my age, I'm hypothetically wiser. Unlike many of my friends I didn't stop counting at 29... And today I am so excited to be 39 (weeeeeee)!
As the oldest child, it's my mom that might feel old... Her baby is... 39!
I have found today to be humorous. I'm sick, again, and I don't think they know what's wrong with me. I can't stop coughing, this is much more frustrating than you might think... I'm coughing with such violence that I've started peeing my pants. So for my 39th birthday I went out and treated myself to bladder control pads, they are really quite comfortable and have elastic-y sides that make the pad curve nicely.
I also had my chest and HEAD x-rayed, well, my sinuses, but now I can say "yes, I've head my head examined" and show them a picture whenever someone makes a joke about my mental state... Totally cool!
I sent the photo to my mom and sisters but they were too concerned about my health to find the humor in the situation. Which is sweet... But come on! This shiz is funny! I turned 39 and started wearing diapers! AND as an extra treat had my head examined.
We're about to have cake and I'll chase that with steroids, "z-pack", cough "pearls", and an albuterol breathing treatment... Then bed!
It's been a great birthday, I am so blessed.
Kisses to everyone.

BTW
As Hubby was headed out to catch a late movie we discussed finances and he said, with some glee "looks like I'm getting popcorn!"
I went to sleep.
This morning was normal... little small talk, Caitlin's going to be late if she doesn't turn off the tv, have a good day.
I went to work.
And at 8:57am received this text:
(1/2) Btw. I want u 2 know im healthy. On way 2 movie & made a quick stop by the e.r. On accounta my chest hurting & stuff. They did ekg & said my heart was
(2/2) perfect : ) they gave me med 4 acid reflux. Didnt want 2 worry u.
At 8:57am I called my husband and, as all my coworkers on the third floor can attest, gave my husband a few choice words.
New rule #1: tell your wife, immediately, if you think you are having a heart attack.
New rule #2: never use "BTW" again, you've lost the privilege.
So, this morning I finished my call by saying "yes, I love you, but I'm so angry I can't even talk to you." Tonight, I'm thinking of sending him back to the ER with a concussion...

Wrapping Racket
It may be the thought that counts but everyone loves a great gift...
And gifts come wrapped. So, is it "all about presentation" or "don't judge a book by it's cover"... Because wrapping a gift ain't cheap and I'd rather spend that extra money on the gift itself, or even better, save it!
"Who's mom used a lunch bag as gift bag?"
Caitlin's mom, that's who. She's saving $5 and isn't buying into the wrapping racket.
This weekend we had left over balloons and helium from Honey's science project, so the brown bag was dressed up a little... But normally there will just be a ribbon.
